Quality of Life Assessments

Evaluating Your Pet's Quality of Life

Determining the right time to say goodbye to your beloved pet is an incredibly difficult decision. To assist you in this challenging process, we offer quality of life assessments. These assessments are designed to help you gauge your pet's well-being and ensure their comfort and dignity during their final days.

What is a Quality of Life Assessment?

A quality of life assessment is a tool we use to objectively evaluate various aspects of your pet's physical and emotional well-being. These are done as in-home assessments or telehealth guidance consults. Our experienced veterinarians consider factors such as pain levels, mobility, appetite, behavior, and overall happiness. By objectively evaluating various aspects of your pet's well-being, we aim to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of their comfort and happiness. These assessments empower you to make decisions that prioritise your pet's welfare.

Why are Quality of Life Assessments Important?

Making decisions about your pet's care can weigh heavily on your heart. A quality of life assessment provides you with valuable guidance during this emotional journey. It allows you to make an informed decision based on your pet's comfort and dignity, ultimately ensuring they are free from unnecessary suffering.

During this challenging time, "Hold My Paws" is more than a service provider; we are a compassionate companion on your pet's journey. Together, we will ensure that your beloved companion receives the love, respect, and care they deserve, every step of the way. Please explore our Palliative Care and Quality of Life Assessments services, and feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

  • A vet will travel to your house to perform a full physical exam, and provide an assessment of your pet’s quality of life. They will provide recommendations and some treatment options, if suitable, may be available at the time of consult.

  • We will organise a time for a 30 minute telehealth consult with a vet to discuss all aspects of your pet’s quality of life and comfort levels, to provide you with the support you need going forwards. This can be very helpful as a followup to an in-home consult. Please note, medications can not be prescribed without a prior in-person consult.
